Airgain’s integration support and embedded antenna design enable maximum performance and range for next generation 802.11ac wireless routers
Carlsbad, Calif., June 22, 2012 — Airgain, Inc., an industry leader in smart and embedded antenna technology, today announced that its high performance embedded antennas will be shipping in the next generation Belkin AC1000 DB and AC1200 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Routers this summer. Belkin’s selection underscores Airgain’s unique engineering integration and services approach to providing advanced antenna solutions for next generation WLAN technologies.
“New wireless networking products require an optimized antenna system to take advantage of the range and performance benefits that 802.11ac technology provides,” said Mike Chen, Senior Director of Networking at Belkin. “This provides improved speed and coverage over previous generation 802.11n devices, and enhances the online streaming experience for videos, movies, and music throughout the home. Leveraging Airgain’s embedded antenna technology and integration approach, our new 802.11ac router will allow consumers to enjoy the full capabilities of this new technology.”
Airgain has been designing and evaluating wireless antenna solutions for 802.11-based wireless LAN devices since 2004. The company has developed a proprietary set of performance metrics, measurement methodologies, and test conditions to enable predicting the relative performance of devices and networks at the component and application level. This well defined set of steps allows the company to produce the optimal antenna system design for any device, leading to better wireless performance for devices with Airgain inside. Airgain’s embedded antennas can also be found in several Belkin 802.11n wireless routers, including the N150, N300, N600, and N900 series products.
“With the rapid proliferation of sophisticated Wi-Fi devices and increased bandwidth necessity, we understand the need to continually innovate and advance antenna technology,” stated Charles Myers, Airgain’s President and CEO. “We pride ourselves on being the only antenna vendor in the market today that designs throughput focused antenna solutions, and we are excited to be working with Belkin to deliver maximum performance antenna solutions for its market-leading home networking products.”
